field of research, ethnography has been in a continuous schizophrenic situation: constant changes in society and culture time after time have demanded the renewal of its methodology. New methods, however, are quite often incompatible with the previous ones. There is a need for an abstract system of ideas and methodology which could serve to express the mobility of cultural manifestations of society with consistent means. In my paper, by interpreting activities as cultural processes and making use of the possibilities offered by applied mathematics, I attempt to contribute to creating such an exact system of investigation. In this approach, it is a crucial observation that, between certain determined limits, the occurance and the outcome of certain activities are accidental; consequently, this can probably be described with mathematical formulae in a system of coordinates which is attached to time. 81
