SZATHMÁRY László – GUBA Zsuzsanna – MARCSIK Antónia: Szegvár-Oromdűlő csontvázleleteinek szerepe a 10-11. századi népesség kontinuitásának megítélésében
EVALUATION OF THE CONTINUITY OF 10 TH-11 TH CENTURY POPULATIONS ON THE BASIS OF SKELETAL REMAINS FROM THE SZEGVÁR-OROMDŰLŐ CEMETERY László SZATHMÁRY-Zsuzsanna GUBA -Antónia MARCSIK The authors analysed 12 measurements on the adults' skull finds suitable for a multivariate quantitative analysis from the Szegvár-Oromdűlő cemetery. They focused on the question of the continuity of 10 th — 11 populations. Recently, the analysis of two 10 th — 11 th century cemeteries of considerable extent, the inner chronologies of which are clearly known has become into limelight in the Great Hungarian Plain: Szegvár-Oromdűlő (BENDE-LŐRINCZY 1997) and Ibrány-Esbó halom (ISTVANOVITS 1996; ISTVANOVITS 1996a; SZATHMÁRYGUBA-ISTVÁNOVITS 1996; SZATHMÁRY-GUBA-OLÁH-PAP 1997). The authors investigated the segregation between the two chronopopulations of both cemeteries by making a discriminant analysis. The cranial similarities of specimens having some mongoloid traits in the population at SzegvárOromdűlő were also analysed. Their results suggest that association within centuries surpasses the one between centuries, i. e. they corroborate the hypothesis that a general change of population history took place in the eastern part of the Great Hungarian Plain in the 11th century.
