A TISZA-VIDÉKI FÜLKESÍROS TEMETKEZÉSEK ÉS KAPCSOLATAIK című konferencia előadásai - SCSEGLOVA, Olga Alekszejevna: A Közép-Dnyeper-vidék „ant régiségek” vagy „martinovkai típusú” kincsleletek tanulmányozásának néhány problémája
SOME PROBLEMS OF THE RESEARCH OF THE „ANT ANTIQUITIES" OR „MARTYNOVKA TYPE" TREASURE FINDS OF THE MIDDLE DNIEPER REGION Olga Alekseievna SHCHEGLOVA Treasure finds of the 7-8th centuries found in the Middle Dnieper region had been studied as „Ant antiquities" or finds of Martynovka type. It was N. Fettich who first used the term „Maitynovka culture" noticing the similarity between the belt sets of the Dnieper region and that of the Avarian cemeteries of the Danube valley. Today we know 25 treasure finds from the territory in question: in east-west direction the strip from the middle course of river Ros to the middle part of river Doniec; in north-south direction the strip from the middle course of Diesna to river Vorskla. The territory of the spread of these finds does not coincide with the territory of the contemporary local cultures. I have analyzed the coincidence of 40 types of objects from 20 treasure finds. As a result I could divide the material into two groups, that show a high percentage of common existence. The first group involves different kinds of Bogenfibeln, elements of belt sets, bracelets with round or multiangular crosssection, temple-rings with spirals, torqueses. The second group involves large antropo-zoomorphic fibulae, different types of earrings, bracelets with widening ends, torqueses with saddle shaped lock, shells and beads. There are arms, luxury goods and instruments among the objects of the first group, but in the second group we have only attributes of the female costume. The two groups were not synchronous, the second one has to be younger than the first one. There are a lot of objects of Danubian origin in both groups. It can be explained by moving of some craftsmen from the Danube valley to the Dnieper region around 670-680. On the basis of the historical data we can put the use of female decorations of the second group to the end of 7th - first half of the 8th century.
