MIKLÓS Péter: A Kecskeméti Lapok a koalíciós években (1944-1949)

PÉTER MIKLÓS THE DAILY KECSKEMÉTI LAPOK IN THE COALITION YEARS (1944-1949) The daily Kecskeméti Lapok was founded in 1868 and continuously published till 1950. During the German occupation of Hungary the paper could not have been published. After the Soviet occupation of the town, the antifascist and anti-German umbrella organization, the Hungarian National Independence Front, founded in December 1944 in Szeged, published the journal. Although each coalition party (Independent Smallholders Party, Hungarian Communist Party, Social Democratic Party, National Peasant Party, Civil Democratic Party) had an influence on the journal, it mainly reflected the views of the Social Democratic Party. From February 1947 to November 1949 the journal was published by the Independent Smallholders Party as a party journal. After the establishment of the autocratic Communist rule Kecskeméti Lapok was published in 1949 by the Hungarian Independent People's Front, led by the communist dictator, Mátyás Rákosi. In April 1950 its publishing was terminated. 408
