Péter, bishop of Debrecen, then with the dean of Szentes. He was "accused" of caring for his believers and of not neglecting religious education. As a result already in spring of 1953 László Óvári suggested János Péter that he should remove the pastor from his office. Then on 30

th April 1955 he demanded from György Munkácsy to bring the pastor to church trial. Based on trumped-up charges in course of a show trial he was sentenced to leave his office on 17

th December 1955. In course of the revolution in 1956 the presbytery called back the expelled pastor, however Lajos Vásárhelyi could not serve as pastor in the community of Ótemplom. Lajos Vásárhelyi was brought to church trial again and was punished in a disciplinary procedure. Although at the beginning of 1958 he had the possibility to take up the office of the pastor in Mindszent, based on the reports of the political police bishop Tibor Bartha removed him finally from pastoral service.
