MIKLÓS Péter: A páter és a hírlap. Balogh István politikai pályájának kezdetei és a Délmagyarország

Egy másik, Balogh elleni rágalom nem közvetlenül a személyével kapcsolatos. A kommunista lap azt állította, hogy Berey Géza csak azért lépett be a Magyar Kommunista Pártba, hogy visszaszerezze a Délmagyarországot s minthogy ez nem sikerült neki, küépett a pártból és a — kisgazda — Szegedi Kis Újsághoz szerződött. A kérdés az volt, hogy mit akar az FKGP-től. „...esetleg főispánságot vagy polgármesterséget ígért neki legfőbb patrónusa, a feddhetetlen Balogh atya, akit Budapesten páter »Zabravecz« néven ismernek?" Erre már a Szegedi Kis Újság is reagált: védelmébe vette Baloghot, „amiért a Kisgazdapárt Leóját bántani merészelték" — tette hozzá a Délmagyarország. A kommunisták gúnyosan arról a Balogh páterről beszéltek, „aki iránt Szegeden éppúgy, mint a Fidzsi-szigeteken, fuldokló tisztelet és szűnni nem akaró rajongás nyüvánul meg". Támadás érte Balogh anyagi helyzetét is: a Szegedi Kis Újság azt írta, hogy a kisgazdapártiak kamrái üresek maradnak akkor is, ha belépnek az MKP-be. A Délmagyarország a cikket a „nagy Főnök kövér zsenijének körülnyaldosásának" tartotta és azt írta, hogy „gyorsan vizsgáljuk meg például Balogh páter és a többi lakkcipős kisgazdavezér, valamint a kommunista vezetők kamráit és a mutatkozó különbözetet osszuk szét". „A szegedi kommunisták nem tűrik, hogy a méregkeverés páteri módszerei a városban is meghonosodjanak" — írta a Délmagyarország. Mindezen kommunista hírlapi támadások ellenére Balogh végig a koalíció meUett foglalt áUást a kormányválság idején. PÉTER MIKLÓS THE FATHER AND THE PAPER BEGINNING OF JÓZSEF BALOGH'S POLITICAL CAREER AND THE DAILY PAPER DÉLMAGYARORSZÁG István Balogh (1894-1976) diocesan Roman Catholic priest — between 1944-1947 assistant secretary of state at the prime minister's office, member of Parliament, politician in the Smallholders' Party, then between 1947-1949 chairman of the Independent Hungarian Democratic Party - joined national political life at the end of 1944. First he took part in organizing the anti-German National Independence Front concentrating democratic forces and the Szeged National Committee. These organizations were offered to use the tarnished newspaper of Szeged, the Délmagyarország, which he also owned for a while. In present paper data are presented on the relation of Father Balogh and the Délmagyarország, mainly from the period 1944-1946. As the secretary of state of the Temporary National Government, and that of the coalition government, Balogh hold influential positions in political life in these years. The author also studied the publicist writings of Balogh —, mainly those discussing actual political questions —, as well as articles and reports about him, and interviews made with him. The author aims at outlining how the Communist group in Szeged — the Délmagyarország became the newspaper of the Hungarian Communist Party in July, 1945 — judged István Balogh's political activity in the period of the coalition years. 80 DM, 1946. augusztus 9. 81 DM, 1946. szeptember 6.
