JUDIT SZŰCS PÉTER ERDÉLYI 1946-2006 Péter Erdélyi, besides teaching history and Hungarian literature at grammar schools, also worked as a local historian at the Tari László Museum in the town of Csongrád between 1986-2005. Among the subjects he studied during the period of 20 years, his analysis of nine letters written by Lajos Kossuth is the most remarkable. Erdélyi documents the correspondence between the town and Lajos Kossuth regarding the issue of fee simple. (These nine letters are the sole written examples of Kossuth's activity as a professional lawyer.) Additionally, Péter Erdélyi studied documents on the national elections between 1901-1931, as well as all the bequests offered to the museum. Among the bequests we may emphasize his presentation of Vicar Antal Hegyi's reports on America from the beginning of the 20 th century; Lieutenant Sándor Tekulics' photographs taken in the Easter- and Italian-frontlines during the First World War, as well as an engineer-farmer-politician, István Ludrovai Tóth's diary from 1903. In his studies Erdélyi at the same time discussed events of national importance (the election of 1901) and presented public figures of local importance (István Ludrovai Tóth). In his works he describes in detail the everyday history and public life of a small town on the Great Hungarian Plain in the 19-20 th centuries. Péter Erdélyi at times arranged exhibitions, held lectures and/or wrote articles on the above mentioned subjects. He arranged sixteen temporary and one permanent exhibitions. He wrote forty articles on local history. He inventorized and processed the archive material of the museum. He inventorized bequests of larger size, he formulated the local method of inventorizing documents and photographs, as well as founded and enlarged the data archive in local history. He took part in editing local and county museum publications, as well as in publishing archival sources. He managed to connect his work as a museologist, an archivist and a teacher in arranging exhibitions, as well as teaching and educating grammar school students. He also involved his students in special museum activities. In his last lecture and paper entitled "Commerce of newspapers in Csongrád in 1919°, he studied the bequest of Mihály Bozó, a printer from Csongrád.
