MRS, KATKÓ ÉVA BAGI REFLECTIONS OF HISTORIC EVENTS ON FLAGS OF SÁNDORFALVA The collection of flags in Móra Ferenc Museum provides an overall picture of symbol usage during a period of two hundred years. The research workers of the historical department studied the collection in order to organise an exhibition. The aim of the exhibition was to show the flags in chronological order and present the world of ideas reflected on them. These ideas altered so frequently that they often accumulate even on the one and same flag. The three flags from Sándorfalva introduced in the study also arouse our interest in due course of organising the exhibition. The flag of the Agricultural Society of Sándorfalva was made in 1911. The painting depicting Patrona Hungáriáé was covered by a period arms at the beginning of the socialist era. Never the less due to the socialist arms the original flag survived as well. The flag of the Young Craftsmen of Sándorfalva protested against the Trianon Treaty. After World War II the flag became a lifethreatening burden and it had been hidden for decades before becoming a part of the collection in the museum. The flag of the Craftsmen's Association of Sándorfalva is a work of high quality proving the existence of a wealthy middle class.
