Ferenc Apró A Few things regarding the Cave Dwellers A Few things regarding the Cave Dwellers Ferenc Apró István Tömörkény wrote his play titled Cave Dwellers in January of 1911, which was presented by the National Theatre on January 22nd 1913 and five weeks later by the town theatre of Szeged on the 28th of February. Director Kálmán Csathó's words illustrate the play’s reception: "I have read it in one sitting, followed by a sigh of happiness, because Tömörkény wrote the exact play that was expected of him: a beautiful, true, poignant one, which is uplifting at the same time." In his writing the Author, with the help of contemporary sources: newspapers, letters and recollection, presents the overwhelming success of the play, its critical appraises and its subsequent movie adaptation. 27
