Apart from sporadic collections, the major periods of insect fauna research were between 2003-2003 and in 2006. The main focus of the research were ground-dwelling special but efforts were made towards the systematic survey of other levels as well. Insects were collected using "ground trapping" (barber-trap), thinning, grass-netting and candling. The paper discloses the results of these 3 years of research. Insect-related research has never been done in this area before, therefore we found no Coleoptera-data pertaining to Kisszállás. For this reason, we found it important to map insect species that are significant from the perspective of environmental protection. The topicality of the subject is also enhanced by the fact that the area of Kisszállás was entirely left out of the landscape protection area of the

Körös-stream, established in 2013 and from the designation of "ex lege” protected areas. This is saddening, because various natural assets may be wasted this way. During the research of four dominant associations we were able to prove the presence of 14 protected Coleoptera-species. The non-conditioned material must also hold additional curiosities, which (after processing) shall be published in our next paper.

Our study also discusses the ecological needs of insects, because these pieces of information may be needed for the preparation of environmental protection plans.

Our research is intrinsically linked to the creation of the "living inventory" of the sand ridges of the Kiskunság area.
