Tímea Sáfrány Gábor Klauzál at the National Assembly of 1843-44 Gábor Klauzál at the National Assembly of 1843-44 Tímea Sáfrány In this study, I try introduce the activities of Gábor Klauzál at the National Assembly of 1843- 44. I shall attempt to explain that he wanted to collect the joint forces of liberals. He was the lead figure of liberals. 1 start off this study with the drafting of the new penal code. Gábor Klauzál participated in this work. It is closely connected to the national assembly. Then I come to precedents of the national assembly and the liberals against governmental measures, hence the reason why Ferenc Deák was absent from the parliament. The liberals needed somebody, who pulled them together in Deák’s absence. This person was Gábor Klauzál. Then I present the other themes of the parliament one by one. I concentrate of Klauzál’s political activities. I use period reportages, parliamentary register-books (district and national] and memoirs in this study. In the end I place Gábor Klauzál in the period of reforms politics. 143
