TERMÉSZETTUDOMÁNY - Csehó Gábor: Bugac természetvédelmi szempontból jelentős Coleoptera faunája

Gábor Csehó Sap Beetle Fauna of Conservation Significance in Bugac Sap Beetle Fauna of Conservation Significance in Bugac Gábor Csehó I have been studying the beetle fauna in the dominant forest and grass population of the sand dune regions of the Bócsa-Bugac area in the Kiskunság National Park and that of the Nagylegelő in Bugac since 1997. Studies focused mostly on soil species; however, the systematic analysis of other associations was also carried out. Throughout the research, different methods of catching insects were used, such as Barber pitfall traps, bottle traps, sweep nests, and light traps. Present paper summarizes the results of the 13 year long research project. On the marked region, the researchers of the Forest Research Institute (Experimental Station of the Danube-Tisza Interfluve], ofthe Hungarian Natural History Museum and of the University of Szeged did insect research; however, I have found only few data regarding Sap beetles. Consequently, I considered it important to map the beetle species living in the studied region, significant in terms of nature conservation. After examining the 11 dominantassociations, 22 protected sap beetle species were detected, outofwhich 9 is considered a novelty regarding the studied region. In the material still unprepared, there could be interesting pieces, which will be detailed in a later publication. In present paper, the ecological demands of beetles are also discussed, this information being relevant in preparing conservation action plans. My research has been closely connected to the project aimed at making the "catalogue of living creatures” in the Kiskunság sand region. 390
