Dankó Imre: A memory of Ede Kallós

A MEMORY OF EDE KALLÓS Ede Kallós was born in 1866 in Hódmezővásárhely (Hungary, County Csongrád). He was one of the first creators of Hódmezővásárhely's life of art. He studied in Paris at H. Chapu. After his homereturning be become an acknowledged sculptor of the millenium and the turn of the century. There are many public place sculptures and monuments of him in the different parts of the land. His activity is caracterized by a Frenchlike loosened naturalism. He was an unaffected, from the first to last trusting man in the society-and personage-forming power of the art. The surroundings of the city of Hódmezővásárhely, the emotional and intellectual world of the peasantry of the Hungarian Plain impressed a seal on his life-work. He took a great influence. He died in 1950 in Budapest. We want to actuate with this memory of his borning century to the more cognition and respect of his whole life-work. Imre Dankó 171
