Insects - Insecta As the Dragonflies (Odonata) are closely associated with water, the pollution of water bodies strongly affect their populations and reduce their numbers. The stag beetle (Lucanus cervus) is the largest beetle species of Hungary, its eggs are deposited among the roots of decaying oak logs. Among the Longhorns (Cerambicidae), the Pontomediterranean Cortodera flavimana is restricted to the MedgyesegyházaKétegyháza-Elek-Gyulavári-Tarhos-Bélmegyer stripe in Hungary. The order of Butterflies (Lepidoptera) is probably the most beautiful and most species-rich group of insects. The occurrence of species is usually related to, and hence restricted by the presence or absence of a single host plant species. The number of protected species is under one hundred. The number of lepidoptera species in the Southern Trans Tisza region is approximately 500. The most common is the Large garden white (Pieris brassicae), the largest is the protected Large emperor moth (Saturnia pyri ). The genetically varied populations of Clouded black apollo (Parnassius mnemosyne) are found along the banks of the River Fekete-Körös.
