A múzeumi munka megismertetését de a gyűjtő munkát is segítették az évenkénti néprajzi, régészeti, és az országban Békés Megyében az elsők között megrendezett természettudományi gyűjtőtáborok. Rendszeresek lettek az iskolásoknak tartott múzeumi órák, csoportos tárlatvezetések, raktár és műhelylátogatások. A múzeum és a közönségkapcsolat szorosabbá válását szolgálta elsősorban a felnőttek részére az 1974-ben alakult Békés Megyei Múzeumbarátok Köre, amely a múzeumi munka társadalmi hátterét teremtette meg. Collecting camp of ethnography, archaeology or natural science (the last ones were organised in Békés county firstly in Hungary) supported the acquaintance of the museum work, but the collecting work also. Museum classes for students, group presentations, visits of the depositories and workshops became regular. The relation of the museum and the adult visitors got closer by the establishment of the Friendly Circle for the Museum of Békés County in 1974, which created the social background of the museum work. The Museum News published permanently in the 70s served the popularisation of the museum, of which revival in 1996 belongs to the latest chapter of the history of the museum. 16
