Gulyás Gyöngyi: Árpád-kori településrészlet Makó, Igási út lelőhelyen (M43-as autóút 23. lelőhely)
Árpád-kori településrészlet Makó, Igási út lelőhelyen residence structures could be observed, and the fact could be proven that the houses had been used for longer periods. This is enhanced by the ancient pile sites dug next to the old postholes referring to repairs and modifications as well as by the alternative furnaces built in the house interiors. Next to the two residential buildings, probable farm buildings have also been shown, their common characteristics being a lack of furnaces or fireplaces. In addition to the ditches and the corrals related to animal keeping, a semi-subterranean object, perhaps used as a stable, of bigger size, was also found. A majority of the exhibited material does not differ from the findings of the Árpád-era settlements. However, several types of pots and decorative elements have been noticed, which make this settlement portion significant. Of the vessel types, the fragments of bowls and bottles with conical walls as well as those resembling ribbed neck jars, can be highlighted. Of the decoration forms, the incised wavy line ornament of the inner portion of the pots and the red painting of the cauldrons can be emphasized. The settlement portion, based on the ornamental forms observed on the external surface of the pots and cauldrons may be dated back to the 11th or the 12th century, or perhaps the 13Ul century. In particular, more precise chronological observations are difficult to make because some vessel decoration patterns and types remained in place for a prolonged period. Some container types (ribbed neck jars, squat-bodied pots) and decoration forms (on-shoulder intersecting, incised wavy line or pot fragments with a wavy line at the edge of their inner side and pots decorated with incised heaps of wavy line below the flange) may date back to the 11th or the 12th century. The objects found show that, owing to its favorable configuration of the terrain and geographical location, the site had been inhabited for longer periods. Probably, along the one-time Száraz-ér (Dry Brooklet), there used to stand some small or bigger villages, of a loose structure, consisting of a couple of houses and their adjacent edifices.
