Iratok a Rákóczi-szabadságharc tiszántúli történetéhez (1692-1742) Documents to the Tiszántúl history of the Rákóczi war of independence (1692-1742)- Imre Bánkúti - Resume The several documents published below were collected by the author from most different places during his researches carried out on the kuruc revolt. They are connected by the fact that all of them relate to the events of the Rákóczi war occurred in the area limited by the rivers of the Körös, Tisza and Maros. In the light of the shortage of archival materials due to that the county administration in the area had not been revived at the time, all documents have got special significance, supplying the deficiency of local history. None of the published documents affects explicitly Békés County, since in practice the whole region had been depopulated in 1703, leaving no more than three settlements in the area of the today Békés County. So we must turn to the contemporary data of the neighbouring communities if we want to study the wider region’s history of the time. Imre Bánkúti publishes the documents of the Rákóczi Age relating to Biharpüspöki in Bihar County (doc. 1), Báránd (doc. 2/a-c.), Hódmezővásárhely in Csongrád County (doc. 3), Debrecen also in Bihar County (doc. 4) and Nagyzerind located at the time in Zaránd County (doc. 5). It can be regarded as typical that, except the last one, all of these are concerned about the urban population of the day, revealing the fact that the permanent fights in the region left in their place only the larger towns, more or less, in the Tiszántúl. Sources in the publication extend our knowledge with many new details on the local history of the Rákóczi war of independence. 93 I
