Adatok a Tiszántúl csigafaunájához III. Some data to the land snail fauna of Transtisza III. The flood plain of the Szamos and the flood plain of the Tisza between Tiszabecs and Tiszakóród- Roland Farkas Resume This paper contains the results of the malacological investigation of the entire Hungarian part of the flood plain of the river Szamos and a part of the flood plain of the river Tisza between Tiszabecs and Tiszakóród (Great Hungarian Plain, NE Hungary). This two year study (2006-2007) was the first detailed and sistematic examination of these areas. I studied each habitat type in the flood plain with the exception of the intensively cultivated plough lands. 43 species were found in the study area. This survey confirmed the presence of the Drobacia banatica in the flood plain of the river Szamos, and several new populations of this species were found along the river Tisza. The most important habitats were the riparian forests, but mediated by the rivers, valuable snail assemblages can develop in less natural habitats, like poplar plantations and clay-pits. The existence of well established Drobacia banatica and Trichia hispida populations along the river Tisza indicate that rivers have an important role in the connection of the mountain and lowland fauna.
