On Mihály Munkácsy on the occasion that the museum bearing the painter’s name is displaying a new permanent Munkácsy Exhibition- Gabriella Gyarmati - Resume The Munkácsy Mihály Museum of Békés County Museum Directorate launched Mihály Munkácsy’s permanent exhibition in two rooms in 2007, first since its foundation, after a renovation extending to all of the building and the exhibitions. The first part of the exhibition features the mainstream of the ouevre, with regard also to chronology within the first decade’s materials, while in the second room the visitor may meet Munkácsy the human being whose character is evoked by a selection of permanently growing relic collection consisting at the moment of 517 elements. In my study I concentrate on the first exhibition unit. Out of the elements of the collection including paintings and graphics I focus on the former ones, following, nowadays less visitor-friendly held recommended progressing line, with respect to the thematic units of the exhibition, while neglecting strict chronology. In my interpretation I refer more times to the works organically relating to but not appearing in our exhibition. Treating them can be justified by the identical themes, the similar characters of the subject, and the reflections born recently regarding these pictures.
