On Rózsa Hill, near Nagybörzsöny, a mineralogically unique hydrothermal bismuth-copper-lead-zinc ore-body was found in Miocene andésites and dacites. The golden age of gold and silver mining in this area was during the 14th and 15th century. During this period Nagybörzsöny became a famous mining town.
