Szakáll Sándor - Jánosi Melinda: Minerals of Hungary (Topographia Mineralogica Hungariae 4. Miskolc, 1996)

THE CSERHÁT AND KARANCS-MEDVES MOUNTAINS In the sedimentary rocks of the Triassic, situated in the southwestern corner of the area, of hydrothermal origin quartz-filled fractures and veins are accompanied by barite, gypsum, goethite, pyrite, mar-casite, and very rarely fluorite. Most beautiful examples of this mineral assemblage are to be seen at Keszeg quarry. Some minor but interesting copper mineralisation is to be found in the Naszály quarry near Vác. Other huge limestone quarries of this area supply the cement works of Vác with raw-material. Here we should also mention some large cavities found in Triassic limestone, and Oligocène sandstone after the clay mine, at Felsőpetény was opened, where large quantities of gypsum were found in a variety of forms (Fig. 39 and 40).
