Budapest The economy of north-eastern Hungary at the time the Trianon borders were drawn Continuing the research traditions of the Herman Ottó Museum of Miskolc, László Veres devoted much of his scholarly attention to various aspects of the town's past and the history of the broader region. One outstanding example of his systematic research work is the research project funded by the National Research Fund (OTKA), the result of which was a comprehensive overview of the craft industries of north-eastern Hungary, written together with his colleagues. The present paper focuses on the final period discussed in the study: the moment when historical Hungary, the state occupying the Carpathian Basin, was intentionally dismembered in accordance with the terms of the Treaty of Trianon, the peace agreement between Hungary and the Allied Powers signed in 1920. The records of the one-time Miskolc Trade and Industry Chamber are currently housed in the Archives of County Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén. The minutes of the chamber's general assembly held on October 20, 1921, record that an economic document drawn up in Hungarian and French had been sent to the commission responsible for drawing the country's new borders in the interest of the northern boundary of the chamber's territory.
