Idegennyelvű összefoglalók - Historic Buildings in County Borsod-Abaúj Zemplén

I The fortress of Füzér the erection of which had been started before the Mongol invasion, was destroyed in 1672, at an order from Vienna. From its ruins standing on a high ridge, protrude the gatehouse and its 15th century Gothic chapel on the walls of which broken by big lancet windows, the rib ends of the cross vaults resting on wall pillars decorated with carved ornaments, can still be seen. One of the fortresses erected in the new estate centres, was that of Ónod. On the south east plane, along river Sajó, it was built round the village church with wings surrounding a square yard and with a strong tower. In the 151 Os, Italian masters rebuilt it. In the mid 16th century, it was encircled by an exterior wall-circle with protruding Italian bastions on its four corners, to defend against the Turkish. In 1 682, the army of the Pasha of Buda burned down the fortress that had survived several Turkish attacks, and now, only the d ílapidated wa 11 s of the external fortification and the corner bastions stand. Sárospatak's still existing late Renaissance fortified castle and the joining town walls were started to build in 1534. Its heart is the former huge late Gothic tower where vaulted halls were arranged with richly carved window and door frames. A fortified castle with corner bastions enclosing a square yard was attached to the tower, and later the two-storied wings of the castle includingthe 1 6th century hall-building, and the arcaded loggia joining the tower were built up by Prince of Transylvania, George Rákóczi I and his wife in the middle of the 1 7th century. Unfortunately, the beautiful wood ceilings of its halls burned out in 1 703, and only a few vaulted rooms and two balconies remained intact. The facades and the interior were largely rebuilt in the first half of the 19th century, but the tower preserved its 16th century form. In 1 702, at imperial order, the 16th— 1 7th century bastioned town fortifications joining the castle and housing the Rákóczi Museum, were badly damaged with explosions, but they still stand in ruins. The youngest fortress of the county is Szerencs. About 1590, Sigmund Rákóczi, later Prince of Transylvania had it erected in late Renaissance style on the place of the Medeaval Benedictine Abbey. The inner yard fortified castle has a square trace and, in the middle of its south side, a square gatehouse. An external fortress defended the castle some wall sections of which with attached contemporary buildings and one of the poygonal corner bastions still stand. George Rákóczi I. restored the fortified castle that got damaged during the military expeditions of 1644, and enlarged it with additional rooms. The later owners of the castle considerably altered it during the 18th and 19th centuries. At the recently accomplished restoration, the explored building has been restored in its original form for the purpose of a museum. A hotel and lecture halls are arranged in the old buildings surrounding the external fortress yard.
