Abstract A QUANTITATIVE STUDY OP THE CADDIS LARVAE PROM THE RILL OP KÓS VALLEY /BÜKK NTS., HUNGARY/ Zonal distribution and quantitative occurrence of caddis larvae from six sampling stations in the rill of Kós Valley of clay shale we­re studied. The 12 species of caddis larvae found are as follows: Aga­petus fuscipes /CURTIS/, Hydropsyche angustipennis /CURTIS/, Plectroc­nemia conspersa /CURTIS/, Limnephilus griseus LINNE, Halesus digitatus /SCHRANC/, Halesus tesselatus RAMBUR, Potamophylax latipennis /CURTIS/, Potamophylax nigricomis /PICTET/, Silo pallipes /PABRICIUS/, Silo nig­ricomis /PICTET/, Sericostoma personatum /SPENCE/, Crunoecia irrorata /CURTIS/. Silo nigricomis occured en masse while the number of indivi­duals for Silo pallipes was small. Agapetus fuscipes and Potamophylax nigricomis were found to continue an active way of life also in the winter months.
