CONTENTS This is issue No 9 of the Communicatios of the Herman Ottó Museum that our Readers have at hand. Like the former ones this is also to contain popular scientific communications about our county. Our column Public Educational Life opens the row this time. In October 1970 the research workers of the Museum Organization in the county Hajdu-Bihar demonstrated their area and their own investigation work. Their lectures are published here. Then you find a survey of the exhibitions produced by our own Museum in 1969—70. The national competition in handmade embroidery and the exhibition in memóriám Bori Kis Jankó take their origin in county and they have been held here every year, the history of which is presented in our next article. This column introduces to our Readers the activity of the Knowledge of Your Country Club at Ózd. Our Archeology column starts a new series: in this number and in the following ones our collaborators will illustrate the artistic exhibits of various archeological periods. At present you find those of primitive age. The most abundant column is that of History. You ? :an read representations about the Miskolc Codex, about F. A. Hillebrandt, the projector of the country-seat for the Balogh family in Tállya, about the hussar-sabres of the 18th century safekept in our country, about the two self-portrait statuetts sculptured by Blanka Teleki while suffering an inprisonment in Kufstein fortress, about the letter on Tokay wine written by painter-artist Gusztáv Keleti. We publish a reminscence on the relation of Ferenc Móra to town Miskolc, you will find here articles on the subsidy common chest at Diósgyőr, on violation of rights at the national assembly elections of 1922, and on a Soviet military hospital that functioned at Lillafüred in 1944—45. The ethnographical publications are about mesterpieces and sign-boards of smiths, about, traditional cutting down of trees in the Bükk mountains, about harvesting reeds in Bodrogköz and utilization of reeds, and at last about the „matyó" nuptials that were celebrated and shown in Budapest at the millenium in 1896.
