NEW DATA TO OUR CLAY FIGURINES OF THE BRONZE AGE Keywords: anthropomorphic and zoomorphic figurines, Late Bronze Age-Early Iron Age There are six finds in the Archaeological Collection of the Herman Ottó Museum in Miskolc, which were focused when the store was ordered. The sites and the circumstances of finding them are unknown. Based on the inventory, they were dated to the Bronze Age. The group of finds contains anthropomorphic and zoomorphic figurines. Considering their raw material and the method of making, they can probably derive from the same site and made by the same potter. The fragment of the anthropomorphic idol aroused our interest because of its individual form, which was unusual in the Bronze Age. Descriptions in detail: 1. Fragment of the anthropomorphic idol. It was formed of grey, fine clay accurately. The sitting figurine has smooth surface and leans to right side slightly. The upper part of the body leans back and becomes thin towards the head. The right arm and the flatten head are fragmentary, and the left arm is broken. Just the haunches remained from the legs. They indicate a strong lower trunk. The deep cut between the thighs might be made to stress the female sexual characteristics (Fig. 1.1). Height: 5,2 cm. 2. Fragment of zoomorphic figurine. It was formed of clay accurately. Its colour is brick red with grey marks. The head and the former legs are absent. The ends of the hind legs and the thick tail were broken down (Fig. 1.2). The figurine shows a sheep. The prehistoric sculptor significantly emphasized the sexual characteristics (Fig. 1.2b). Height: 2,8 cm.
