IRODALOM Banner János Badeni leletek a Szabolcs megyei Vissről (Foli Archaeologica HI-IV. 1941. 28-38-). Banner János Die Péceler Kultur (Archaeologia Hungarica XXXV. 1956.). Gabler Dénes: Terra sigillaták a Kelet-Pannóniával szomszédos Barbaricumban (Arch Ért 95.1968. 211-243.). COPPER- AND ROMAN AGE FINDS IN MEZŐZOMBOR (Summary) Settlements from the Copper Age and the Roman Age were disturbed during the railway development between Mezőzombor and Tarcal. The rescue excavations, carried out in September and October, 1979. yielded two Copper Age living pits and four waste pits from the same age. The living pits were oval, with a diametre of cca 2 metres, their depth was 1 metre. Their entrance opened towards west. The Roman Age settlement was represented, beside the pottery, by three square formed (IX 1 m) objects, containing stones, charcoal and ashes. They can be dated from the small fragments of terra sigillata imitations found inside them. Most of the finds, house pottery with network and dotted, sometimes also incised ornament, bone awls and chisels and stone tools, belong to the Copper Age. The pottery of the Roman Age was scattered in the upper layer of the whole surroundings. The settlements spread on the side of the adjoining small hill south of the excavations occupying a relatively large territory. The Copper Age settlement can be attached to the Viss and Ózd groups of the Baden culture and shows some affinity towards the Transdanubian Uny group too. The Roman Age settlement can be dated, from the fragmentary terra sigillata pieces, from the first half of the 3rd century. Simán Katalin 107
