BR* Old Sokac women from the Drava region in rainclothes. N.d., unknown photographer a young man's festive garment. Every piece was home-made except the hat and the bocskor (a kind of moccasin). This costume is peculiar because of the horizontal pleating of the shirt and the long linen trousers. Only in this ethnical group men knit woollen stockings fitting in the bocskor for women as well. Decoration is a part of clothing as well. The place and the method of decoration is determined by tradition, but all women were allowed to choose the suitable one from a great number of decorative elements while being attentive to the unwritten rules of tradition in the combination of colours and motifs. The immeasurable diligence and inclination to decorate garments inflated the number of clothes to such an extent, that in the 30s even young men could show off in different clothes each Sunday and feast-day.
