IN MEMORIAM - Kisbenedek Tibor: In memoriam dr. Vass Anna mikológus, muzeológus (1930–2016)
A Janus Pannonius Múzeum Évkönyve ( 2017 ) 618 involved in exploratory research on the wildlife of the Őrség region. A part of the legacy of her scientific work is the collection of the Macro and Micro fungi placed at the Department of Natural Sciences of Janus Pannonius Museum, as well as her publications, field recordings, slides, photographs, lectures and presentations on her subject. Her merit in the creation of the Mycological Society was recognized in 1985 with Clusius Prize. She was awarded with the Prize of the Hungarian Society for Mycology and Wood Protection of the National Forestry Association for her scientific work on the micro fungi of Southern and Western Transdanubia, as well as for the research and popularisation work of the mushrooms of the territory. As a recognition of her mushroom researches in West-Transdanubia, she became a member of the hall of fame of the Savaria Museum’s Natural History Department of the Vas County academy of science. In memory of Anna Vass’s mushroom research activities, the mushroom-pickers of the village of Kárász in June 2015, as a symbol of their love and appreciation, named the the Kárász – Somosikút – Nagymászáló – Kárász mushroom-picking tourist route a?er her, and the refurbished Mushroom Exhibition and Research House were also given the named of dr. Anna Vass. We pay tribute to her work for the museum and keep her memory alive.
