For the majority of those interested in the topic, it was probably a long-known fact that a Soviet transport aircra? (B-25) crashed in June 1944 at the border of Harkány (Baranya County). Based on the rare and curt documents available in the archives, only the simple facts could be established, so I decided to follow up on what had happened. In Harkány, I managed to find many former eyewitnesses who told me in detail about what they had seen at the time, so the documents of the starting point slowly began to come to life. To avoid a single detail might be lost, parallel to the above mentioned investigation, the work continued on the field where I tried to determine the exact location of the crash and detect wreckages by visual inspection and metal detector research. I also asked for help from fellow researchers in Russia who went to great lengths to dig into the old files of the crew. Finally, as a result of our joint effort, the details of the 70-year-old tragedy of the crew was revealed by November 2015.
