Spontán regeneráció a Szavai-hegy (Villányi-hegység) lejtősztyeppjében 131 Spontaneous Regeneration in the Slope Steppes of Szavai-hill (?e Villanyi Mountain) Dolly Tolnay – Nikoletta Darányi ?e main purpose of our study was to compare the vegetation of an intact steppe and two steppes that have been ploughed in different years. We prepared 2×2 meter coenological relevés, and analysed the data with multivariate methods. We also compared the grassland patches based on the social behaviour types, coenological preferences, life-form categoories of the plant species, as well as on the presence of protected and dominant species and diagnostic species. Differences between the ploughed and the intact grasslands are considerable according to all parameters, but spontaneous regeneration is also conspicuous, especially for the grassland that was ploughed earlier. Due to the propagule sources in the proximity and the seed bank of the soil, chances for the regeneration of the grasslands are good. Legal conservation actions are necessary to protect the intact grassland and to prevent repeated ploughing.
