Horváth Csilla Pécs szerb megszállás alóli felszabadulását követően, 1922-ben rendezték meg az új állandó kiállítást. 1923ban Fejes György lett a megbízott múzeumigazgató (1938-ig). 1924-ben a múzeum 20 éves fennállását nem ünnepelték meg, tevékenységüket Fejes egy újságcikkben ismertette: "Ma a pécsi múzeum a vidéki múzeumok között első helyen áll, csupán nélkülözi saját kényelmesebb házát, hol a raktárban felzsúfolt anyag is kiállítható lenne. " A múzeum gyarapodását sem tartja kielégítőnek: "A régi ajándékozók elmaradtak és a múzeum gyarapodása ma igen kicsi. Úgy látszik sok múzeumbarátot és mecénást a mindennapi életért való küzdés, a pénzhajsza, a mai élet idegessége valószínűleg csak rövid időre eltávolította a múzeumtól. " Ebben az évben adta át a könyvtár 12 ezer kötetét "használatra és megőrzésre" az Erzsébet Tudományegyetem könyvtárának. 1925. december 20-án nyílt meg a Pécsi Székesegyházi Kőtár. Horváth In 1922, after Pécs's freedom from Serbian occupation, a new permanent exhibition was organised. In 1923 (and until 1938) György Fejes became the museum director. In 1924 the museum did not celebrate the 20 years of its existence, but Fejes published its activities in a newspaper article: "Today the Pécs Museum is the first among provincial museums, it merely lacks a building of its own where it could exhibit all the material crowded in storage. " He was also dissatisfied with the tempo of expansion: "The old donators have gone and today expansion is minimal. It appears that many friends of the museum and patrons have been alienated from the museum probably only temporarily in the struggle after a daily existence, the search for money and the tension of modern life. " In this year the library handed over 12,000 volumes to the Erzsébet University Library "for use and preservation." The Pécs Cathedral Museum of Stone Remains was opened on December 20 th , 1925. The exhibition was arranged by Ottó Szőnyi. In 1926 a military history collection was created. In 1927 the museum was named after Mayor Imre Majorossy, who had earned undying gratitude in his part in bringing the institute into existence.
