It seems that the most diverse caddisfly fauna lives in the upper reaches of the river Dráva and in the branches of upper Danube (UHERKOVICH, NÓGRÁDI 1995). We studied the composition of the fauna along the river Fekete-Körös in a period of six years, therefore several species have been recorded. The habitat of this collecting site is a mixture of different associations, a consequence of the hydrological circumstances. The water is swelled up for several months, accordingly the species connected to big demand of oxygen can not establish themselves permanently. Although some species, deriving from the mountainous region of the river, try to colonalize this reach from time to time, their attempt usually remains unsuccessful. The characteristic caddisflies of the upper reaches are e. g. Psychomyia pusilla F., Glossosoma boltoni Curt., Cheumatopsyche lepida Pict., Mystacides azurea L., Triaenodes simulans Tjeder. These species also occur in the Fekete-Körös. Their population density is usually low (see Tables 1-2). A few species of the upper reaches live in other Hungarian rivers, namely Danube, Tisza or Dráva (e. g. Lepidostoma hirtum F., Brachycentrus subnubilus Curt., Lype phaeopa Steph., Rhyacophila dorsalis Curt., Agapetus laniger Pict), but not in the river Fekete-Körös.
