A Janus Pannonius Múzeum Évkönyve 37 (1992) 19-32 Pécs, 1993 Further examinations of Trichoptera of the Chechen-Ingoosh Republic, Russia Sára NÓGRÁDI and Ákos UHERKOVICH NÓGRÁDI, S., UHERKOVICH, Á.: Further examinations on the Trichoptera of the Chechen-Ingoosh Republic, Russia. Abstract. 1564 male and 2146 female specimens, altogether 3710 caddisflies of 53 species were collected during the years 1989-1991. 5 species proved to be new for the Causasian fauna. Unknown female of Tinodes difficilis Mart., Tinodes valvatus Mart., Phryganea rotundata Ulmer and Dinarthrum iranicum Schmid is depicted. Morphological variations of some species are presented. Introduction First results of the examination of the Caucasian Trichoptera fauna were published a year ago (NÓGRÁDI and UHERKOVICH 1992). In that paper 40 species were presented from 11 localities of the Chechen-Ingoosh Republic. Since the time of closing the MS of the cited paper three collecting trips were organized to the Republic and further huge materials were collected and elaborated. In May and June 1990 Á. Uherkovich and Levente Ábrahám travelled to the Caspian Lowland and to the mountainous regions (Kezenoy-am, Furtoug, Torgim). They collected very rich material. In September, 1990 the members of the expedition were Dr. Béla Herczig, Dr. László Ronkay, Dr. György Bürgés and Antal Sárközi. They visited the same localities. In July, 1991 B. Herczig, Dr. Zoltán Mészáros, Viktor Marko, Gábor Kusnyér and András Horváth took part in the collecting trip. They didn't visit the Caspian Lowland (Voskresenskoye and Starogladovskaya) during their journey, but only the mountainous regions. Moreover in July, 1990 Tat'yana S. КогоГ had collected some material on the Caspian Lowland and she passed these caddisflies to us to elaborate and publish the results. Localities, methods The previous paper on this topic mentioned 11 collecting sites. Almost all sites were visited again except ItumKale and Kerigo. Especially good results were got at Furtoug. There is a very large hygropetric biotop here with some small brooks around it. Several hundred caddisflies were collected here by net and lamp. The members of the third expedition visited a new locality: upper branches of Fortanga River. This site lies close to Torgim Basin, but along the northern slopes of the mountain range surrounding the basin. Fortanga river is a tributary of the Sunzha river. We collected also few caddisflies in the inner part of the capital of the Republic, along the Sunzha river. The members of the first expeditions applied both daytime sweeping along small waters and around hygropetric biotops and night collecting by mercury vapour bulbs (125 Watt) fed by a new, light portable Honda generating set (type EX350). The second and third expeditions used mostly mercury vapour bulbs, sometimes small portable light trap fitting by 12 V fluorescent tube. T. S. Korol' applied also 125 Watt m. v. bulbs fed by electric network. We planned to erect a light trap but because of the circumstances our intention has not been realized. The collected material The following Trichoptera material was collected by each expedition: 1. May 28 - June 13, 1990 (Uherkovich, Ábrahám, КогоГ): 1029 tftf 1589 9?. 2. July 3-28, 1990 (T. Korol'): 46 <?<? 84 99. 3. Sept. 11-27, 1990 (Herczig, Ronkay, Korol'): 135 *<? 145 99. 4. July 2-19, 1991 (Mészáros, Herczig, Marko): 174 c*tf328 99. The material is deposited in the collection of Janus Pannonius Musuem, Pécs (Hungary) in alcoholic vials. List of species and data The collectors' name is not given in the list, they can be found in the previous paragraph. Hydropsyche females are not listed.
