THE SMALL POPULATIONS OF CARABIDAE IN HUNGARY L THE SPECIES WITH ONE LOCALITY Sándor HORVATOVICH Abstract. A list of Carabidae species, who have only one locality in Hungary, is given. Seven species are new to the Hungarian fauna: Bembidion argenteolumAhrens, 1831, Bembidion ruficorne Strum, 1828, Bembidionfulvipes Strum, 1827, Trechus rotundipennis duftschmid, 1812, Patrobus styriacus Chaudoir 1871, Harpalusxanthopus winkleriSchauberger, 1923,Brachinuspsophia Audinet-Serville, 1821. A map of Hungarian localities is annexed. The Carabidae are long ago probably the most known group of Coleoptera in Hungary, however our knowledge on its small populations is a few one. In that paper I compile the list of Carabidae species, who have only one locality in Hungary. This list —as a „red book" —is very important for the protection of nature. Seven species are new to Hungary. Some species have not a good known habitat: the old specimens of Natural History Museum in Budapest and the species taken by light traps. Eleven species have only one specimen from Hungary. The list has Zoogeographie importance too, because its range is now better known. Unfortunately, some of them can become extinct in the near future.
