It is very frequent in the mountainous region. In the hilly regions of South and West Transdanubia it is not frequent. It developes in non-polluted small streams. Only a male was captured in the Zselic Downs, along a small streams. It is a rare species. This species occurs all over the country and it is very frequent by stagnant waters, mostly at fish ponds and other small ponds covered by dense vegetation. Sometimes it reaches very high dominancy (see Table 10.5). This species occurs sporadically, but it can be frequent in some sites (e. g. Bares Juniper Woodland: Darány-Nagyberek). Only three localities have been known from South Transdanubia: two of them are in Zselic, another one is at Mike {Nógrádi et al. 1985).
