Természettudományok - Horvatovich Sándor: A Zselic futóbogarai (Coleoptera, Carabidae)

14 The Carabidae of the Zselic Downs, Hungary Sándor HORVATOVICH Zselic, a characteristic hill-country in Southern Transdanubia between the towns of Kaposvár and Szigetvár, is rich in Carabidae: a total of 122 species have been found. This country is one of the most important sylvicultural regions in Hungary. The most characteristic forest associations are: Vicio oroboidi Fagetum, Helleboro dumetorum-Carpinetum, Aegopodio-Alnetum, Carici acutiformi-Alnetum and Fraxino pànnonicae-Ulmetum. The ground-beetles were collected from 1977 —87, mainly by the author. About the rare and characteristic species: 1. Carabus nodulosus Creutzer, 1799. It is known from two localities in Zselic. All records are 20—30 years old. Its habitats are now rather dammaged. 2. Leistus piceus piceus Frölich, 1799. It is a mountain species in Central Europe and it is very rare in Transdanubia (in four regions was it only found). 3. Asaphidion curtum Heyden, 1870. It has a Western European and North African distribution. The reliable Hungarian range is not known because this overlooked species needs here a revision. 4. Bembidion clarkii Dawson, 1849. It is an Atlantic species living mainly in Western Europe. Its distribution is very scattered. It is new to the fauna of Hungary. 5. Bembidion starki Schaum, 1860. Its distribution is very scattered. It is mainly known from the countries of Alp. This record from Zselic is a new one to the Fauna of Hungary. 6. Trechus secalis Paykull, 1790. Until now in Hungary it was only recorded from Northern Transdanubia and from Börzsöny Mountains. 7. Trechus obtusus Erichson, 1837. It is an Atlantic species, too. After a revision it has not more then 7 records in Hungary (6 in Transdanubia). 8. Trechus cardioderus pilisensis Csiki, 1915. It is a characteristic ground-beetles species in Fagetalia of Souther Transdanubia. 9. Amara majuscula chaudoir, 1850. It has a very scattered occurence in Europe and in Hungary too. In our country only 6 records are known. 10. Agonum longipenne Mannerheim, 1844. In Hungary this overlooked species needs a revision. It must be more distributed as it is known now. 11. Harpalus melletti Heer, 1837. It is mainly living in Western and Southern Europe. This record is only the second in Hungary. 12. Harpalus zigzag Costa, 1822. This is a new record to the fauna of Hungary. The unique specimen was captured by light. Its determination was based on the male genitalia. 13. Harpalus marginellus Dejean, 1829. This mountain species has only one record in Hungary in the faunistical literature, but it is there more distributed. 14. Stenolophus persicus Mannerheim, 1825. It has a very scattered distribution in Hungary, only from10 localities. Its main range occupies the Balkan Peninsula, Turkey and Iran.
