Régészet - Hajnóczi, J. Gyula: The conceptual and actual reconstruction of the villa and the burial vault at Kővágószőlős

234 GYULA J. HAJNÓCZI Fig. 5. Conceptual reconstruction of the burial vault. Perspective section Fig. 7., a sectional plan of the main rooms, shown the main features of the planned protecting structure. A did actic line will separate the surviving walls from the brick work planned to be erected till the height of the upper ground level. The only stone structures extending above this level will be those of the buttresses and the corners, while the walls will be represented by Copilit profile glass. Covering the construction will be decking and zincplate on the open-timbered roof. Only parts of the springers of the burial vault will be rebuilt in order to give an inside view of the vault from the upper room. This opening will be enclosed by wooden banisters. This communication between the rooms will result in the evenness of the temperature and the degree of humidity — a condition favourable for the preserved frescos. The villa and the burial vault at Kővágószőlős are cossidered unique in out country. This is why the financial and moral efforts by the management of the Mecsek Metal Mining Company to render this complex a public property deserves special credit. Their assistance during the archaeological excavations and also in the planned reconstructions was inappreciable.
