The dimensions of the area enclosed by wall W28, the W outer wall of room P/l, and walls W17-W1-W16 was 17X12 m. The excavation of this large area was completed in six stages (cf. Wall W40, running N from the S wall W16, was squared after a 500 cm stretch, and wall W40a, branching off from it there, met wall W28 (cf. Fig. 126.). The 50X 120 cm oblong-shaped heap of stones found in the NE cor­ner of the room was in all probability the remnant of an earlier stone wall (dating from the 1. period, contem­poraneous with wall W19a). In the S part of the room the remnants of a brick-flooring with yellov mortar as binding material were discovered „in situ" in a 100X65 cm spot (it was doused with white lime !). In the S half of the room an approximately 20 cm thick deposit of loose, red clayey earth was removed from under a thick layer of burnt and broken roof-tiles. ANIMAL BONES: cf. Vörös, 1987.
