UHERKOVICH ÁKOS Macrolepidoptera fauna of Zselic I. Vásárosbéc-region (Lepidoptera) ÁKOS UHERKOVICH The Zselic (or other name : Zselicség) is an extended hilly area surrounded by communities Kaposvár, Dombóvár, Sásd, Szentlőrinc, Szigetvár, Kadarkút. Its general height is 150-250 metres above sea level (at some points it reaches the height of 250-359 metres). The area is covered by deciduous forests. The region examinated in present paper takes its place in the southwestern part of Zselic. Few forests have survived on this region. In spite of the fact, the lepidopterous fauna is very reach. The author has collected and determined 502 species from environs of Vásárosbéc. There have been found some species being very rare all over the country: Ortholitha chenopodiata L., Oporinia autunmata Bkh., Lygris mellinata F., Acasis viretata Hbn., Calopsilos sylvata Scop., Lomographa cararia Hbn., Epizeuxis calvaria F., Trichoplusia ni Hbn., Euchalcia modesta Hbn., Porphyrinia ostrina Hbn., Sedina büttneri Hering, Apamea tallosi Kov. & Varga, Apatele cuspis Hbn., A. alni L., Simyra nervosa Schiff., Atethmia ambusta Schiff., Lamprosticta culta Schiff., Pheosia gnoma F., Phalera bucephaloides O., Hyles lineata Westw. and Hepialus hamuli L. Their distribution in Transdanubia is shown by iigs. 6—7. The appearance of two very rare migrant macro-moths (Trichoplusia ni Hbn. and Porphyrina ostrina Hbn.) deserve peculiar attention. The examination of Lepidoptera continues in Zselic. The author intends to publish further materials originating from other parts of this region. -.
