In summer 1976 I spent ten days in Bulgaria following my exploratory gathering work done be­fore, I was collecting mainly riddles from Turks and Bulgarians and I prepared my Armenian col­lection as well. In this work I present material I have collected so far from the Osmanli Turkish community of about 1500 inhabitants in Sumen. I obtained information from the following per­sons: Baj Kadir Ahmed (68 years old) retired teacher, Ismail Redjepow = Kara Ismail (65 years old) saddler and harness-maker, Ismail Hüsmenow Mehmedow = Ismail Hüsmen (32 years old) odd-hand; the last one finished each text with the question nedir о (what is it)? Besides my tape recordings I have used up the material Safiye MURADOWA (woman secretary of the Osmanli Turkish Community in Sumen) sent me in a letter. 1 (Last picture.) 1 Thank you for the kind help given again in your letter concerning the elaboration of the material and for your kind invitation.
