A mellékelt kartonon bemutatott fejfafénykép díszítő kompozíciója annyira érdékes, alakijánál fogva lelőhelyéről »Csökölyi Vénuisz«-inaik neveztük el. Akik a fejfán totemiisztikus és egyéb mitikus emlékeiket keresnek, itt azok ш gazdag tárházat találnak. Végül még megemlítjük, hogy a népköliészet kutatói is találnak itt csemegét, ha a faragott fejfák nem is mondhatók gazdagnak feliratokban.. Mégegyszer visszatérünk annak megemlítésére, hogy a magyar anyagon (kívül a rokon és egyéb népeik idevonatkozó anyagait is gyűjtjük. A magyar fejffa genetikai-históriai kérdéseit az utóbbiak nélkül megoldani nem lehet. The paper gives a short rewiew about the Hungarian researches of the wooden graveposts. It proves that the 'dispersion of data resulted by collecting of objects and researches till now, as well as the counting of our valuables, necessitated the establishment of a wooden grave-post archives. The Janus Pannonius Museum in Pécs is exastly 'the very one of the institutions, posessing perhaps the most 'endowments to realise it, therefore the workers of its Ethnog'raphical Department undertook the establishment of 'this archives. The paper publishes 'then numerical data. In the strict sense of the girave-post (that is not giravecroiss), a grave sign, carved out of wood is purfcting up only Iby 'the Caliviimist and Unitarian elements of the Hungarians. It earn be ascertained that cemeteries taking into consideration in such a way, are there about 3.000 in 'the Hungarian language area. In, our archives we have data from Ö00 cemeteries till now, with 'more than 3.500 wooden grave^post photos. By the enclosed map, made on the basis *of them, is shown which are these areas and by this means it is determinable where in the future a more intensive research is to be dome. Ha ezeket egybevetjük, láthatjuk mennyi terület van még, ahonnét adataink hiányoznak. Tudjuk, hogy a, helyzet 'ennél jolblb. Említettük már a sárospataki gyűjtésit. For good measure we have to carry out researdheisin the Hungarian speaking areas of the neighbouring countries too. Since consdderalble masses of Hungarians emigrated to America, we have to search for contact with the local interested organs, for getting as much data as possible from 'this till now neglected area. First above all the United States — living there the most Hungarian — then Canada and Brasil are to be taken into consideration. Since the Hungarian wooden grave post, has very much particular character — mostly unparalleled with ithie European nations — this research is to foe extended to the grave sings of the European, as well as to one 'Of the Asiatic related people too, becouse there are many times a number of similarities already to foe demonstrate. Data concerning to these are there already in our collection. We have naturally to extend this research to 'the other European and especially to 'the neighbouring people too.
