E-mail: lokos@bot.nhmus.hu Based on more than 550 herbarium specimens (from nine herbaria) and more than 40 literature sources, a total of 191 species was enumerated in the lichen flora of the Mecsek Mts. Additional 17 dubious taxa were also listed separately. In lack of vouchers occurrences ot the latter require confirmation. Four legally protected lichen species (Cladonia arbuscula, C. magyarica, C. mitis, C. rangiferina) seem to be present in the Mecsek Mts. Eighteen species, considered as rare or redlisted in different categories, were also recognised (Anaptychia ciliaris, Bryoria chalybeiformis, Cladonia uncialis, Flavoparmelia caperata, Lobaria pulmonaria, Melanohalea exasperata, Moelleropsis nebulosa, Ochrolechia pallescens, Parmotrema crinitum, P. perlatum, Peltigera degenii, P. elisabethae, P. leucophlebia, P. membranacea, P. polydactylon, Petractis clausa, Rinodina archaea, Umbilicaria hirsuta). According to this compilation, the lichen flora of the Mecsek Mts is insufficiently studied and explored, and further intensive investigations are highly recommended.
