Régészet–Antropológia–Numizmatika - Knipl István: Hajós régészeti topográfiája

Knipl István István Knipl ARCHEOLOGICAL TOPOGRAPHIES OF HAJÓS Area of Hajós can be found at the boundary of the Great Plain and the Danube river alluvium, which is one of Hungary's most special areas. The village is situated on the one hand on the eastern edge of Kalocsa-Sárköz - a well-watered river alluvium, on the other on the dry high banks, formed by loess-covered quicksand layers, which stand 10-15 meters above the floodplain undercut by riverbeds. The area under study - which is the real border of Transdanubia and the Great Plains - has been under almost continuous human habitation for most of the past 8000 years. The field survey of the outskirts of Hajós took place in 2009-2010. After the formerly sporadic field surveys (surveys of D. Kálmán Szabó) and the reported possible finds, it can be regarded as the first systematic archeological field work in the village. During the field survey more than 100 new finds were identified. After the fieldwork traces of 14 different archaeological cultures have come to light (Körös-culture, the Linear ware-culture, Tiszapolgár-culture, Bodrogkeresztúr-culture, Baden-culture, Makó-culture, Nagyrév-culture, Vatya-culture, Tumulus burial-culture, Gáva-culture, Celts, Sarmatians, Avars, Hungarian Middle Ages). 40
