We have seen how shamanic drums are related to the beliefs about the spirit world found inside the rocks. The drums themselves however have also numerus references to the idea of entering the other world through a kind of opening. The drum was thought to be a material symbol of the universe, and the designs decorating its skin replicated the idea of the nature and the structure of the cosmos.
