The Relationship of Bronze Age Beliefs and Nature in the Carpathian Basin A large wand stands in their midst. The Darkness is shown in the lower right-hand corner, in the form of a human being coming out of the trees with many branches. The Sun and the new Moon stand opposite each other. Among the stars can be discerned the outlines of Orion and of the Pleiades, the Milky Way, „Heads," etc. The large star in the upper left-hand corner is Venus". (Bogoras 1907, 218) (Fig. 18). The shaman's attire and its accessories often symbolize a helper spirit. The wings, claws and different bird figures on the dress indicate that the shaman's helper spirit is a bird. There are also bird-shaped forms among Bronze Age pendants. One of the most beautiful Middle Bronze Age pendants depicts a flying bird and features sun and wind motifs on its surface. It was unearthed at Rozvágy in Hungary and objects of this kind have been found only in the Carpathian Basin so far (Fig. 19). Metal discs that decorate a shaman's garments symbolize the Sun, the Moon, and illuminate during their journey to the other world. There are several types of objects among Bronze Age archaeological finds which main task was to visualize a symbol. The most well-known ones are those bronze pendants that are decorated with diverse symbols depicting sun and moon halos (atmospheric phenomena). They may have served as symbols for light (Pásztor 2017b). Bronze pendants that are very similar to the Bronze Age light symbols can be found in the attire of Siberian shamans (Fig. 20). ■Atii Fig. 9.
