Pásztor Emília: A bronzkori fényszimbolizmus
iconography studies identify this decorative motif as the astral symbol of Goddes Isthar who represents the planet Venus. Figure 15.3-4 However, opinions are divided regarding this assumption because fourpointed/branched star motifs can be found on the list of possible sun symbols. Though, there are no dots between branches. It is also interesting to note that Mayan astronomers, who frequently made observations of Venus, often depicted the planet similar to the symbols of Group 1 (Sanchez 2006, Fig. l.a ). Perhaps, this is the most expressive way of depicting an especially bright star such as the Evening Star. The eight-pointed star, with one sharply drawn dot between each branch, became a commonly used symbol of the Evening Star identified as Goddess Isthar. Figure 16 There are several gold earrings with this symbol. (I believe) The eight points forming a circle on the Group 2 earrings from the Carpathian Basin are the same symbols, bronze molded imitation of a simplified granulation technique. Trade relations between the Baltic states and ancient Syria are also justified by amber prestige objects found in royal graves in Syria dating back to BC 1340 (Mukherjee et al. 2008). Probably the raw material, from which local craftsmen produced luxury items, arrived to the Middle East on land on a route later named Amber Road and through the Csüngő, Ugarit (ma Ras Shamra, Szíria). A jól ismert női torzó alakú csüngő felületén a korábbi emberi testrészleteket már a csiltagszimbólum helyettesíti. Pendant, Ugarit (now Ras Shamra, Syria). The human parts are substituted by the symbol of the star on the well-known female torso pendant. Aegean Sea (Lefkand necklace?) where the valuable cargo reached land in the Ugarit port. All this could explain the striking similarity between the ugaritian 143 T I 15.4.
