Peterburg 1912,31 Katalin Bíró-Sey Examination of the VIRT 6X-6XRC ROM type coins of the Szikáncs Hoard according to dies The hoard was found in 1963. It consisted of 1439 pieces that were analysed in a short publication (footnote 1 ). In the meantime it came to light that further 10 solidi are owned by unknown persons (footnote 2). Earlier the coins were determined on the basis of Tolstoi, and some pieces, of the Goodacre catalogue (footnotes 3-4). In the course of re-determining the find we used RIC volume X (footnote 5). Weight data of the pieces was refined (footnote 6). In the case of VIRTVS type (RIC X 261/282, 284) 61 solidi minted in 441, a total of 5 dies were used at obverses (nos. 181-185) and 7 dies at the reverses (nos. 1-7). Connections between dies are demonstrated on fig. 1. Average weight of the type is 4.466 g. Catalogue and figures are numbered 1129-1189 because this is only a part of the complete catalogue that is in process of preparation. Catalogue lists the pieces of the find in chronological order. 47
