MUNICIPAL ARCHIVES - Town, City Archives by András Horváth J.

the interests of skilled professions and the documents of different industrial, trade, transport and financial companies, which often can be found in great quantity but they are not always arranged. The remaining documents of Tatabánya Coal Mining Company in the Archives of the Town of Tatabánya are remarkable considering that the company has ceased to exist. We also should note the varied records of 'annexed districts', which were the precursors of villages. These documents reflect the changes in administrative regions and differ from the town's procedures for creating documents. For example, in the archives of Tatabánya, the administrative written material of Alsógalla, Felsőgalla, Bánhida and those of former Tatabánya can be found. We have to take the fonds of archives of Pest county - because of the capital - and those of Komárom-Esztergom county - because of Tatabánya - into consideration. Some archives, e. g. in case of the Archives of Vác, is running a deliberate acquisition policy and beyond the public sphere is taking care of private sources as well. The council and other administrative and economic documents from the socialist era and which form fonds can be found in town archives too. Although the quantity of these is not much smaller than before 1950, their source value is much more limited. When doing research in this field, we should bear in mind the party state origins, as most of the data is insufficient and incomplete. The supplementary materials can be extrapolated in the documents of party organizations of towns. The facade of the main building of the Archives of Budapest Capital
