is a difference only in quantity and not in the type of materials and in interior construction of the archives of Győr and in the case of Székesfehérvár and Vác from the different town fonds of the Capital Archives. In contrast with the archives of Tatabánya, whichwas established fairly recently. But due to the shared circumstances of Hungarian Archives History, there is also some similarity between the division structure of the Capital Archives and the Archives of Tatabánya since both of them keep great quantity of sources of economics. The documents of contemporary town self-governments can be a valuable source of information on both the feudal (end of the 17 th century) and bourgeois (mid 20 th century) periods. Beyond the electa communitas, the town council with 6-12 members carried out administrative functions. The head of the judiciary council was the judge, meanwhile the functions of the public administration and of the town economics led by the mayor. During the operation of the council a large collection of documents and records were established. These records shed light on important town affairs of the past because these were decided collectively. The normative directions fixed in these at the very beginning (statums, rates, different directions) were placed later in separate file series. The council meetings originally were judicial forums and were later divided into two managing affairs, and town legislation and administration. The records of the meeting of the elected citizens or the electors are less significant and smaller in scope but they refl ect the conditions of interest and consciousness of feudal bourgeois that became more and more active from the Reform Period and that always grew in number. In 1848 and in 1849, in 1861 and from 1867 to 1950 - from 1870 with the help of virilism - the town representative bodies were organized upon financial census but theoretically on representative base.
